CosplaySky Homura Akemi Costume Review

it's been a while since i posted a review here. i have quite a few to get to an i'm gonna start with my review of cosplaysky!

(review of this necklace/ring set will be up soon! you can use my code "criedwolves" at spreepicky for a discount too!)

so my sponsorship with them entailed one custom tailored cosplay. i ha a hard time choosing one because there were SO MANY great cosplays available! i ended up choosing a puella magi madoka magica one. the homura akemi magical girl outfit, to be specific. it was between her and hope from final fantasy at the end, but i've wanted to cosplay homura (my wife) for a long time now. i'll do a final fantasy character one day though, i promise!

anyways i sent my measurements and they told me it would take about a month to sew and mail to me. it ended up arriving faster than i expected though!

when i first tried it on it ended up being a little bit big on me. i'm pretty sure it's because i sent them my old measurements and i'd lost a bit of weight since then. but i was happy that it was big rather than small because at least this way i can take it in a bit! i still plan to lose a bit more weight and tone up so once i do i'm going to have it fitted perfectly, but until then it's wearable as is!

so right away i could tell it was nice quality. the black trim were a leathery material and the fabric felt good! there were several zippers on it to help get into easier and to make sure it's fitted well once on. one critique i might have is that the colours aren't 100% canon. the skirt and lower collar are a purple-grey when in canon they're a less saturated colour. also the bows are a little bit more blue than they should be. but i didn't really tell until i compared it to a ref pic of her. it really doesn't make a huge difference and it still looks really good in my opinion. so it's fine unless you're one of those people who are SUPER picky about colours. but seeing as though most homura cosplayers don't use grey wigs like her hair is in canon, i doubt it's a huge issue.

so to sum this all up, my first experience with cosplaysky was great and i would definitely recommend them! personally, i'm the kind of cosplayer who focuses mostly on wigs and though i do occasionally sew my own cosplays, i do use some made by costume sellers like this and have in the past bought some from other cosplayers. either way cosplay is about having fun and if you're someone who isn't overly talented at sewing or doesn't own a machine, this is a great way to do it. so check out cosplaysky!

don't forget to use my discount code "criedwolves" at checkout!!
